About Us

Dentistry On Catherine Street (DOCS) is a well-known multidisciplinary specialty practice located in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, delivering oral maxillofacial surgery, periodontal treatment, endodontic services, dental implant therapy, and more to the National Capital Region. Our team provides our patients with excellent dental care through compassion, strong technical skill, and the use of advanced technology. You may have known us by another name until recently; DOCS continues the excellent service and care that was offered under the GumDocs brand.

The Job

Our ideal candidate would be detail oriented and regularly provide excellent customer service to patients and referring offices, in addition to being capable of working with insurance companies and processing claims.

Some of the duties you would undertake would include:

  • Preparing the treatment room for procedures
  • Preparing patients for treatment
  • Assisting chair-side
  • Taking records, impressions, or x-rays
  • Assisting with lab tasks as needed
  • Assisting with front office tasks as needed
  • HARP Certified
  • Comfortable using ABELDent for charting of patients is an asset
  • Bilingualism is an asset

Valid Dental Assistant Level 2 certification is required.

The Job

You would help by providing support for our doctors as they perform specialty dental procedures, as well as providing a variety of care for patients. Supportive ongoing training is provided to get you up to speed with dental practices.

Some of the duties you would undertake would include:

  • Preparing the treatment room for procedures
  • Preparing patients for treatment
  • Explaining specialty dental procedures to patients, including periodontic, endodontic and maxillo-facial procedures
  • Assisting chairside with oral surgery and other procedures
  • Our ideal candidate would have OR experience to help support oral surgery performed by our doctors, however this is not a requirement

The Job

Our ideal candidate would regularly provide excellent customer service to patients, referring offices, and colleagues.

Duties would include:

  • Oral health assessments
  • Obtaining intra-oral images and radiographs
  • Scaling and root planing
  • Collecting diagnostic data
  • Patient oral hygiene education and motivation
  • Consultation with patients, post-op procedures, follow-up appointments, treatment coordination

The Job

Our ideal candidate would be a warm, customer-focused person who would be able to learn, understand and explain to patients some of the specialty dental procedures that we perform.

Some of the duties you would undertake would include:

  • Meeting with patients and explaining doctor-recommended treatments
  • Answering questions or concerns about the treatments, and providing access to educational resources
  • Working with both the clinical and administrative team to effectively manage patient’s experience through our clinic including with scheduling, payment, and insurance questions.

  • Our ideal candidate would have OR experience to help support oral surgery performed by our doctors, however this is not a requirement

The Job

You would act as our front-line public face of the practice, and would act as our first point of contact with both external referring offices as well as patients. Our ideal candidate is warm, personable and demonstrates good attention to detail, time management and organization skills to assist with scheduling. You would be working as part of a team that would provide support as you learn the role.

Some of the duties you would undertake would include:

  • Entering and maintaining the schedule for our doctors (We use ABELDent as our dental practice management software)
  • Proactively calling patients to confirm or set up appointments.
  • Processing payments and insurance claims
  • Booking follow-up appointments as necessary
  • Taking calls and emails from external referring offices and patients, and responding promptly to these calls and emails.
