Periodontists are specialists in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gum disease (an inflammatory disease that destroys gum and bone around teeth, also known as periodontal disease), treatment of gum problems around implants, and in the placement of dental implants. A periodontist’s priority is to restore a patient’s oral health and help them maintain it. They focus on prevention to ensure that patients keep a healthy, beautiful smile throughout their lifetime, however when patients need oral health intervention, DOCS periodontists have the required expertise.
Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are dental specialist that primarily treat dental and medical conditions that involve the mouth, teeth, jaws and face. At DOCS, our oral and maxillofacial surgeons perform oral surgery including the removal of impacted wisdom teeth, complicated extractions, placement of dental implants, bone grafting, and biopsies. As is the case with all specialists, oral surgeons typically manage more complex treatment than the average general dentist.
Endodontists are dental specialists in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of oral pain and disease that originates from within the tooth. Root canal therapy involves the removal of diseased tissue, the repair of root structures, and the retreatment of teeth previously endodontically treated.

Sleep Apnea and Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMD)
Although TMD is the most common condition identified by patients, it is a component of craniofacial pain, which also includes chronic head and facial pain, recurrent headaches, migraines, and neck pain. We understand that these conditions are generally a symptom of a greater underlying problem, and that successful treatment is based on identifying that core problem. We have developed a proven process for the diagnosis and treatment of craniofacial pain (TMD, headaches, facial pain) and the treatment of sleep disorders (sleep apnea, snoring) without surgery. Our focus is on improving the quality of life for both children and adults suffering from craniofacial pain and sleep apnea, using the latest technological advances, and non-surgical therapies and treatment options.
The following are indications that a sleep apnea/TMD consultation may be beneficial for either children or adults.
Sedation dentistry is often thought of as a service that is only for patients with dental anxiety. While it is true that oral or IV sedation can alleviate a great deal of dental fear, making a visit relaxed and peaceful, not every patient who requests sedation dentistry suffers from extreme dental fear. Procedures that are complex in nature, such as the removal of impacted wisdom teeth, or those that may cause discomfort due to tooth sensitivity, such as osseous surgery, may be better tolerated under sedation. DOCS offer several methods of sedation to curb dental anxiety, or simply create a more comfortable experience, including nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation.
